When An Opportunist Meets Golden Gate

I know a 12th grader should’ve been studying these days for UAN, but well, life’s just no good without a slight of fun, isn’t it? ;)

Yesterday was exhausting yet fun! :D

My mom, brother, bro’s gf, and i went to Solo (again for me), this time is literally for vacation!! ~(‘.’~)(~’.’)~

Here goes the destinations:

1. Pandawa Water Park

We departed from home at 9.30-ish, supposedly we got there maximum 1.30-ish hours later, but due to some technical mistakes in guessing the roads, we got there approximately 3 hours later -__- hahah. The pool was still lack of people when we came, so we could somehow dominate it :3

Next!

2. Solo Grand Mall

Thank God we successfully got there without any serious difficulty in picking the route.. My mom and I wandered at Matahari (doh! like we don’t have one at Jogja) and my eyes caught a glimpse of this cutey wallet and fell in love at once!

Chatelain wallet + calendar (bonus)

Delighted :)

3. Serabi Solo Seller along the road

We stopped by to buy 10 pieces of it. I may say it’s Javanese pancake hihi.

4. Orion Bakery

Unfortunately we lost our good hunches in picking the road, so we took waaay further route to reach this place. Btw, this site is a legendary bakery. Its famous products as I knew are Mandarijn cake and Semir Cake. They’re simply extraordinarily tasty.

5.  Nasi Liwet ‘Yu Tukinem’ at Solo Baru

There were actually several options to buy nasi liwet, but I picked this place because it looks clean :) Nasi liwet tastes oh so good.. The price is not expensive as well:

Nasi liwet biasa (rice, oseng jipang, sliced chicken) : IDR 4000

Nasi liwet+egg : IDR 6000

Nasi liwet+chicken drumstick : IDR 9000

Yummy :9

After all those, we went home to Jogja and only spent 1 hour-ish to get home. Kewl.

You should try out those sites if you have a visit to Solo, fellas! ;D

Cheers

Sudden Adventure to Solo

Salut!

I’m now in a temporary holiday for a week btw, so I can enjoy some spare time before the National Exams \m/

Anyhow, last Saturday 26th March 2011, I suddenly had to go to Solo for a debate competition. So the plan I knew was the NSDC Jogja team (Alif, Danu, Almas) who were going to go there, but because of some reasons only Alif and Danu who could, and I also wanted to come with :3 But the thing was: they were not sure about the plan, thus they didn’t prepare a thing. Apparently at 5 am Mas Adi called Alif and asked them to go to Lempuyangan right away.

Well, God has another plan. Danu’s phone and mine were somehow in silent mode, therefore we didn’t realize if Alif called (for mm.. 20-ish times). Finally Mas Adi and Alif went first by train (Prameks) because Danu came late to the railway station and I just woke up. Another unfortunate event; the train they took wasn’t taking them to Solo, but Wates; which is on the other part of Jogja. Nice. Alif texted me rightaway and told me the condition, he asked me to come with to Solo to be his teammate. I confirmed.

So I went to Lempuyangan and met Danu there, soon after that Mas Adi came with Alif on a rented car. Yak, we were heading to Solo, to Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret to be exact and we were late for the competition. We missed 1 preliminary round. Mas Adi as the CA (Chief Adjudicator) was late as well.. Thank God we could catch up and won the rest 3 preliminary rounds and made it to the Octo Finals the following day!

Oya, I also had a small reunion with Arbi and Neo (NSDC Jateng 2011) there :D

Another surprising news: the adjudicators (JDF) had planned to stay over a night at Solo, including Mas Adi. So that was the master plan that we didn’t acknowledge. Great. We brought nothing but our debating book and some cash in our bags. I told my Mom and she was so kind bringing some clothes from Jogja that night.

That night the committee brought us to the logging; Asrama Mahasiswa UNS. The building looked so fancy from a distance, with its glamorous paint and lighting, but it was surrounded by abandoned-spooky-buildings, and the inside of it was… ‘telek burung’ here and there. No offense.

Regardless we were all tired, we (Adjus and team SMA 8 Yk) went out that night to Galabo; a road where there’s no vehicles there, and it’s used as food court. As nearby there was also a live music performance, after finishing our food me and Alif watched it. They were greaaat! My mom and my bro came and met me there, and they brought us clothes, for me and the boys. And that night was ended with a tight sleep but not long enough -,-

We woke up in the morning and prepared for the competition day 2. After we reached the venue, another problem appeared. Some participants and teachers felt unfair if our team could break to the Octo as we missed 1 prelim the day before. But heeeyyy, there’s no such rule saying that we could be kicked out because of that. The rule only says that if we’re late for 1 round, then we will lose WO, and we accepted that. The fact is we won 3 times therefore we have enough victory point to proceed to the Octo. After some serious talk and voting (doh!) we could break but our position was moved from rank 5th to 7th. No problemo.

In the end we won anyway! 1st place! We brought home the trophy, cash, and prestige!

Well, the clock showed it was 18.11 pm, and the last train to Jogja would be at 18.45 pm. Geez, we quickly took the trophy and the cash, and took pictures with the committee as their demand, and ran downstairs. We were gathered there, 12 people, waiting for the car to take us to Solo Balapan. Apparently there was only 1 car provided by the committee and it could only carry 8 passengers. Bravo. As we didn’t want any of us left at Solo, we pressed 12 people+1 driver in a Kijang/Panther. Hahaha it was fun and full and fun! We disobeyed the traffic light here and there and reached the station in time. We bought 12 tickets and jumped into the train. Unfortunately in the next station, a group of drunk ‘gondes‘ went in. Euwh. Thank God we could reach Jogja safe and sound.. :)

End of the story.

Viva SMA 8 Yogyakarta! Long live Jogja!

Chary Me

When you thought you’d already had one’s words, you dreamt so high, but in the end knocked down to the deepest sorrow..

What I’ve said times before was always proven; expectations will only lead to disappointment.

When you find none is reliable, let’s just rely on nobody but ourselves.

But hey, we’re not perfect. Any of us. We make mistakes, we screw up, but then we forgive and move forward.. :)

God’s Good Plan

I am now officially accepted in Atma Jaya University and get the scholarship!! :’D

I was uber panic when there was no call nor text from UAJY until 12 pm.. Then I tried to track down the website but there was no announcement yet. I texted a friend and he said he’d been called and he was accepted.

I cried.

I thought I didn’t make it…

Until suddenly my phone rang and a voice over there said the word ‘Congratulations!..’

Thankyou very much Lord, I am superbly grateful :’)

ps: God does listen to our prayers, guys. Ask for it, and prove that you are really into it.

Cheers!

A Day with Grudge and Anxiety, and Massive Cheeks

Today I was supposed to have 2 practical exams; IT and Religion. Because of blah blah blah the Religion test was postponed til tomorrow, so I’m gonna face 3 amazing tests tomorrow haha *ironic laugh*. That’s not the point anyway.

So the IT test wasn’t supposed to be THAT hard. However, I failed in making the Ms. Word thing thou. Darn it. I did the HTML only in 10 mins or so, but I still couldn’t make it with the Word!! I just couldn’t find out how on earth to make it look exactly like the test sheet, goosshhh.

Next is Religion. Apparently my friend’s presentation was somehow vanished because of a virus, so she re-made it from the very first slide, so we planned to postpone the test to give her time. Meanwhile, I told my friends that I wasn’t sure with mine, because there’s no such material in our book entitled ‘Pandangan Iman Kristen tentang Keluarga’ which is my topic. So what I made was just what I found in a piece of paper from my teacher which is full of repetition; ‘cinta kasih’ here and there in 3 subtitles. Then I got panic. With an advice from a friend, I tried to search it in my teacher’s books, then I found one entitled ‘Dasar Keluarga Kristen’, and guess what? That’s supposed to be my presentation. Uyeaaaahhh, nice!! So now I gotta re-make mine hahahahahahaa *laugh in tears and full of sarcasm*

The story doesn’t stop there. I had a chit-chat with Dillo about the Indonesian verbal test which she already faced the day before. She said she was worried if her essay wasn’t in line with the theme given. Then I got panic for the second time. Oh nooo, what I wrote was totally random eventhough I made it according to the literal meaning of the theme T____T so I picked about ‘Mass Media’s Effect in Maturing and Providing Knowledge Towards Teenagers’ and I wrote about Mass Media’s Effect in Maturing and Providing Knowledge Towards Teenagers just like that, with no statistics whatsoever inside. Hahaha .___. I wonder how would the teachers criticize me and mine on the D-day. Nice.

Meehhh.. All is not well. Hosh hosh. As a refreshment, I looked at some pictures of mine when I was in the 10th grade hahahaha. They do bring back some memories, but also remind me of how massive my cheeks were. Seriously. They were like dominating on my face and make me look like err, like this:

Well, not saying they’re now not as massive thou…

Cheers!
